Indian Sanskrit Images

These images are examples of Bharata Natyam. It is interesting to notice that the dancer begins in a bent knee position. This is done to resemble the Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Bharata Natyam is a solo dance and it involves an elaborate use of hand gestures and postures, as well as complex movements of the head, feet, and eyes. When I look at these pictures it is easy for me to appreciate the beauty of the dancers makeup, costume, jewelery and makeup.
